"Providing Seeds of HOPE To Grow a Garden of LOVE"

Gardening Shears

I

was given the opportunity to speak at a conference in the spring of 2007. Each of the angels that have already fought this battle have "planted seeds" that are still reaching out and touching the lives of brain tumor survivors today through those seeds. I realized that was the goal of this organization I was starting.  To take those seeds that had been planted...those Seeds of Hope...and from them Grow a Garden of Love to surround all the survivors, caregivers and their families by "Helping Others by Providing Encouragement".   HOPE With Support wants to share those Seeds of Hope to others, to help them grow a Garden of Love.

I look forward to watering those seeds that angels have planted as this organization, HOPE With Support, continues to grow.

Watering Seeds of HOPE

Now, I do not know about you, but in reality I am not much of a gardener. You have heard of people with green thumbs?  Well, mine is definitely "black". My son was visiting me once, and was going to tease me about my african violet on my table.  Some of the leaves were falling off.  He thought it would be amusing to tease Mom about killing her flowers.  The joke was on him, however. The african violet was artificial. I believe his comment was that he never knew anyone who could kill an artificial plant. So now you understand my predicament!

I do love beautiful flowers though, and keep trying to grow them! With my creative background, I find it easier to paint them or take pictures of them, than to actually grow them. The good news is that this is not inherited, as I have a sister whose yard looks like the cover of Home & Garden. With this in mind, I'm going to share on this page my garden with you. Remember this is a Garden of Love! Please feel free to share pictures of your garden with me and we will share with others on this site!

Tulips

Tulips are the third-biggest selling flower in Holland. Tulips require a period of cold while they are dormant and resting between their "show dates". You must plant them before freezing weather, then you will get a beautiful display in the spring weeks. These tulips were at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. in April.

I am always interested in the the symbolization of the flower, after I have enjoyed its beauty. There is no one definitive list of what a flower means.  You can find as many definitions as there are flowers.  So in the "Garden of Love" I will choose the meaning of the flower that is most appropriate for a Garden of Love.

Red Tulips

What does the Red Tulip mean? In the Victorian language of flowers red tulips are a declaration of love. Is that not appropriate for Brain Tumor Action Week in May. After all, we are "Providing Seeds of HOPE to Grow a Garden of LOVE". How do you provide Seeds of HOPE? By Helping Others by Providing Encouragement. That is what the HOPE stands for in "HOPE With Support". We all need love, encouragement and support, whether we are the survivor, family of an angel, or a caregiver.

Please send some garden pictures to add to our Garden of Love.  If anyone would like a full-size copy of this photo, please feel free to email us: HOPE@HOPEWithSupport.org.

Happy Gardening and remember to provide "Seeds of HOPE" to others.
