THE MARCI BEE DAYTON MEMORIAL FUND

Brain Tumor Awareness Ribbon©

Marci Bee Dayton "Marci Bee Dayton, at age 14, lost her battle with brain cancer. Marci suffered a massive stroke one morning and was flown to John Hopkins Hospital where she underwent surgery for an unknown brain tumor. Marci and her family remained in Baltimore for 3 months before bringing her home to spend her last days surrounded by her family and many friends. Due to many medical complications and physical disabilities she required 24 hour bedside care. Medical equipment was placed in the home, nurses were scheduled to help her parents with her care and many medications, supplies, etc. were required for her care.

During the course of her illness many fundraisers were established and the community pulled together during this family’s time of need. The help and support of family, friends and the surrounding communities enabled Marci and her family to share the small amount of time she had left.

The Marci Bee Dayton Memorial Fund was established with funds remaining from the proceeds the family received from the many fundraisers. Not only is this fund an ongoing tribute to Marci and her life, but it is also dedicated to the many people who contributed time, money and effort to help Marci’s family through her final journey.

“Our daughter, Marci, was so vibrant and full of life. She was involved in so many activities during her 14 years of life. She was active in Church, Student Council, Girl Scouts, Pop Warner Cheerleading, dance, karate, softball and so many more activities. Marci was a genuinely caring person who truly touched everyone who knew her as well as so many others that came to know of her and her courageous battle. She adored her family, friends and everyone she met along life’s journey. She had a special way with younger children and had hoped to be a teacher one day. We can’t think of anything that would make her prouder than having a memorial fund in her name to offer help and support to other children in her community. Thank you for helping to keep Marci’s spirit and love alive”.
